Would You Give Your House Keys to a Stranger?..

Today, we’re going to look into a few common scam techniques that fraudsters use to get ahold of your personal data and steal your hard-earned money.

Scenario 1. A shop listing items way below market price

The buyer sends the money over, and the seller immediately vanishes into thin air because the page was completely fake.

Important.the page might look legit with a wide variety of products, many followers and endless positive reviews. All of this can be easily faked just to win your trust.

The takeaway.whenever you shop online, make sure you are buying from official and verified sellers. If you feel unsure, ask a friend for advice. NEVER SEND MONEY online for deals that seem suspiciously cheap.

Scenario 2. Requesting card details for “product sales and delivery”

You are trying to buy or sell an item online.

The buyer follows the link where they are asked to provide bank card details, including the CVV (the three-digit number on the back of the card). After that, the seller becomes unreachable.

Once the scammers get your payment card details, they link your card to an e-wallet and drain your entire balance.

The takeaway․ never share your card details with anyone and don’t type them into suspicious websites. Call the official company support directly to verify whether they really use such a payment system.

Scenario 3. A “friend” asks to borrow some cash

A scammer duplicates a social media profile belonging to someone you know or hacks their account.

Right after you make the transfer, your “friend” stops replying. When you call them, they have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

The takeaway․in situations like this, always verify the authenticity of the page with your friend directly.

Scenario 4. Requesting an SMS code to provide an “online loan”

Scammers advertise loans on very favorable terms via fake Facebook pages.

Things can go different ways here․

  1. the scammer asks for your Telcell Wallet phone number, and moments later you receive a wallet activation SMS code, which they also ask you to forward. Naturally, they are trying to get into your account and take your money,
  2. the scammer does not ask for any data but requests an upfront payment to release the loan. Once you send the money, they disappear.

The takeaway․never trust anonymous lenders operating solely on social media. Before taking a loan, research the institution thoroughly.

Scenario 5. A “Telcell employee” reaches out to you

The user shares the code, and the scammer easily gains access to their e-wallet.

Important․your Telcell Wallet activation code is highly confidential and must never be shared with anyone.

Situations may vary, but always remember: Telcell employees will never ask you for your wallet activation code or your PIN code (password). If you get such a call or message, ignore it, call us yourself and check with an employee.

The takeaway․never share your Telcell Wallet SMS activation code with anyone. It is only yours, for logging into Telcell Wallet, and it is not needed for any other action. If someone learns this code, they can take your money.

Don’t help the scammers. Keep your personal data confidential and never share it with others.
